Peace of mind. On your wrist.

  • You won’t forget it if you are wearing it!

Missing a dose of your maintenance medicine can be disruptive or even dangerous.

Rescue medicines can save your life and need to be administered quickly. If you have been prescribed a rescue medicine, it needs to be in an obvious place for you or others to locate in an emergency.

Carrying your medicine can help alleviate that stress by giving you peace of mind that you will are prepared for anything that might arise.

  • RxWear started with a need for my daughter to have her seizure rescue medication near her at all times.

After making crude prototypes of wearable medicine holders on our own, we partnered with a product designer in Philadelphia, NextFab, to turn our idea into a solution.

At the same time, we met and learned from more and more families who had the same or similar needs. We realized that the need was much greater and extended to anyone on medication.

Our research took us through several phases and led to the development of what has become RxWear.

Our Story

As a parent of a daughter with epilepsy, I needed peace of mind - and to be ready in case of emergency.

Here is our story.

In 2015, my fourth-grader had a seizure at after-school care.

I received a scary phone call from a teacher who said that Talia was “unresponsive.” I rushed from work to the school, where EMTs had arrived and were asking my daughter questions. I watched as this usually full-of-life child stared blankly and couldn’t answer simple questions.

By the time we were at the hospital, she had returned to normal though was sleepy, and we were told that Talia had probably had a seizure.

When Talia had a second seizure that summer, she was put on an anti-seizure medication, and we were given a “rescue” medicine to bring her out of a breakthrough seizure.

Like everyone who receives an epilepsy diagnosis for themselves or a family member, we had a lot of questions, and many of them no one could answer.

None of us knew what Talia’s future would look like and how epilepsy or the medication would impact her life … there were a lot of unknowns. We got to work tracking medications and appointments and building a rescue plan that included having that rescue medicine on her - literally on her - all of the time.

This medicine, in her case clonazepam, needed to be accessible, not shoved in a backpack or a teacher’s desk. And it needed to travel with her from class to class, on field trips, to dance class and friends’ homes and anywhere else she went. It seemed like the best place for this medicine was on Talia’s wrist.

Assuming that something was already being sold, we searched and searched, but nothing was on the market that could hold more than a tiny pill, and the products we found were flimsy and fell apart. We retrofitted a few products but decided that someone needed to invent a wearable compartment in the perfect rescue med size!

Pitching the idea to an Epilepsy Foundation representative at a Walk to End Epilepsy in June of 2019, she told us about the Foundation’s Shark Tank and encouraged us to apply. And so we did!

We were awarded seed money, and developed a product to carry anti-seizure medication. But what we learned along the way is that many people need their medication to be with them at all times. and so our focus widened.

We hope that, along with people diagnosed with epilepsy, anyone who needs to keep their medication nearby will benefit from this little invention.

Make the Rxwear band part of your comprehensive health plan. The intention is that it helps with both medical safety as well as confidence. Wear it in good health!

We’d love to hear from you!

As our product nears going to market, our goal is to work closely with the epilepsy community. We’d love your insight!
